Access is a powerful database program that is used to store small to large quantities of information. This class will introduce the basic database concepts and terminology using the Microsoft Access Database software program. Students will learn how to create and maintain a database, add tables, and analyze data using filters, sorts and queries. Lecture, demonstration and in-class exercises will allow students to practice concepts learned in class. |

InDesign, version CS3, is a professional-grade page layout
application, and an industry standard. Topics will include
document creation and organization, importing text and
graphics, basic design skills, formatting text and graphics,
and printing. Students will create several assigned documents
during the course, to be reviewed supportively in
class. Instructor will also give attention to student’s individual

Computer Introduction |

A beginning, hands-on course in how to use Windows PC
and software applications. Students will learn yoga based
stretching activities and work habits to help prevent or
relieve computer related stress. Basic file and disk management
will be demonstrated and practiced. Text editing with
Notepad and Wordpad software will be used for composing.
Loading music and movies can make the computer
experience more enjoyable. |

Learn to use Microsoft Access and Excel in collaboration,
utilizing each for the purpose to which it is best suited.
Access is suited for managing data; organizing, searching,
and multiple simultaneous users. Excel is better for
analyzing complex calculations, “What if” analysis, and
producing high quality charts. If you store your data by
using Access and analyze it by using Excel, you will gain
the benefits of both programs. |

If you know the basics of digital imaging and camera use but want to do more with your photographs, this is the class for you. Students will learn to maximize all that the digital camera can deliver. Adobe Photoshop 7 and CS2 will be used to optimize digital images, including processing raw images. Students should bring printed materials, photos, and digital or film camera for use in class assignments and projects. Mr. Hamilton is well known locally for his artistic and professional digital photography. |

How to Use Your Digital Camera 10 weeks |

Do you have a digital SLR camera that you use as a point
and shoot? In this course students will learn various functions
such as portrait, macro, landscape, and action.
Students will learn about the importance of white balance
and how to take a great photograph that does not require computer enhancement. The concepts taught by Mr. Liu will support an easy transition into Digital Photography with Adobe Photoshop. This class has been requested by many students so sign up early! |

design basic web pages, link pages together to make basic
websites, set up an account with an internet service provider,
and upload their pages to make them available on
