This class will cover proper function and maintenance of common bicycles. Topics will include tire/tube repair, wheel truing, brake and gear adjustments, and repacking of bearings. Students will learn how to manage debt and begin saving, how to talk about money, and how to teach your children to become financially self-sufficient. Learn how to avoid paying more than is necessary, and where to find bargains without wasting time. Learn how to determine your insurance needs without relying on a salesman and where to find objective investment advice. The class will simplify IRAs, Roth IRAs, 401(k)s, tax sheltered annuities, and education savings accounts, giving you the information you need to use them effectively. If you are ready to get control of your money and become confident in your financial decisions, this class is for you. |

Growing a Kitchen Garden |

This is the time to plant your cool season garden and start thinking about your summer garden! Kitchen gardens, large and small, have mostly edibles but also include flowers for the table and plants that attract beneficial insects. This class focuses mainly on growing food and provides knowledge for successful and rewarding gardening experiences. Lessons, discussions and demonstrations include: seasons in the garden; building healthy soil; growing vegetables, herbs and flowers; planting berries and fruit trees; watering, and more. Instructors have almost 60 years of combined Davis gardening experience. This class includes seven evening classes plus two garden visits to reinforce classroom learning. The garden visits are Sundays, January 24th and 31st from 12-3 pm, with an alternative rain date on Saturday,February 6. Maximum class size: 20 students |

The SAT college entrance exam tests grammar and usage, reading comprehension of short passages, and content from third-year high school math. Instruction will include review of vocabulary and math concepts, when to make an educated guess and how to pace yourself. Instruction will allow for small groups and individual support.
