California Physical Fitness Test: We are helping students prepare for the events that are tested on the California Physical Fitness Test which is coming up in the second week of May. To help your child feel as comfortable as possible with the mile run we are suggesting that you take the time as a family to walk, jog or run on the tracks at any of the Junior High Schools or High School. Running a real track is a different experience than running around our playground area and really helps the students feel more confident.

Students are using the Presidential Fitness goals as challenges and are keeping records of gains in their abilities. It is exciting to see how the effort they put into practicing the curl-ups, push-ups, stretching and running is paying off.

 

English Battle of the Books Thursday, May 15.

 

Tee It Up on Tuesday, May 6th: El Macero Country Club invites the community to play golf. Green fees are $50 per player with 100% of the funds raised through these fees going towards the Davis Schools Foundation. Please phone Brian Clark at 753-3363 to schedule a tee time. Singles and two-somes will be paired with other players to allow for as many players to participate in this event at possible. - For more information on these fund raising events, please visit www.davisschoolsfoundation.org

DSF Informational Coffee: There will be a Davis Schools Foundation Informational Coffee at Stonegate Club House on Wednesday, May 7, from 9:30-11:00 am. Hosts are Lori Carpenter and Charlene Paylor. Please contact Tracy Beckwith (beckwithcasa@yahoo.com) if you're interested in attending this event.

String Concert on Wednesday, May 7th at 7:30 at Harper Junior High School: All City Orchestra will open the evening performances followed by the Continuing Strings who will perform side by side with the Junior High Orchestra.

5th Grade Mile Run on Friday, May 9th from 8:40 -10:00. We will walk to the High School where all the 5th graders will run the mile for the California Fitness Test. Come out and cheer on the runners.

All District Elementary Band Concert with Emerson 7th grade band on Tuesday, May 13th at 7:30 at the High School.

Intermediate Battle of the Books, Thursday, May 15th in the MPR. Many teams have completed reading all 6 books in their preperations for winning the exciting competition. Parents are invited to come and watch the battle take place. The time will be forthcoming.

All District Elementary Band Concert with Holmes 7th grade band on Thursday, May 15th at 7:30 at the High School.

All District Elementary Band Concert with Harper 7th grade band on Tuesday, May 20 at 7:30 at the High School.

Art Fair at Chavez on Wednesday, May 21st.

Fiesta at Chavez on Saturday, May 31st. 5th graders will open the festivities on stage with the National Anthem and other songs. 5th graders will run the Costa Rican hackey sack activity after their performance.
