About Me

This section I choose to dedicate to myself. My name is Matt Best and I was born in the beautiful city of Portland, Oregon, but spent most of my childhood and adolescence in Oakdale, Ca. I graduated from Oakdale High School in 1995 and proceeded directly to Davis. I attended the University of California at Davis and received a B.A. in History and Political Science.  While at Davis I was fortunate enough to become the president of the history club, play a little college football for the Ags, and become a member of this fine community.  I graduated from UCD in 1999 and started teaching and coaching at Dixon High School while I worked on my teaching credential at National University in Sacramento. I then completed my student teaching at Davis High School and have remained ever since.

Since I have been at the high school I have taught just about everything in the Social Studies Department: World History, World Civilizations, U.S. History. American Government, AP American Government & Politics, Economics, Economics Survey, Economics Sheltered, Psychology 1A & 1B, Health and I have been known to make a guest teaching appearance on the step aerobics scene. I also coach the Mock Trial team with Tom McHale and Allison Hanson, I help out with the After School Program with Rikki Davenport and Andres Uyeda. Aside from school I like to fiddle with my computer and truck, stay on campus far too late and harangue my fellow co-workers. I have also been an assistant football coach at UC Davis, Davis and Dixon High Schools and  wrestling at Davis High.

I hope that you will find this site to be mildly amusing, slightly informative, and a pleasure to visit again and again. Be sure that you check out the place where "learning happens" daily, H-30 and the device that will "revolutionize" student learning, the learning reverberator.
