Meetings for the Associated Student Body take place all year. Elections for officers in the Associated Student Body take place in the early fall for 7th grade and laste spring for the 8th and 9th grade. For descriptions of the requirements and duties of the officers, click here.

Builder’s Club

The Builders Club is a community-service organization for junior high/middle school students that encourages leadership activities that encourage students to make a personal contribution to their home, school and community. Builders Club is sponsored by our local Kiwanis Club. Student projects have included: a book drive, tree planting and trimming, planning and planting a garden area, working at Kiwanis House in Sacramento, and helping with a variety of special school reading projects. |

Honor Society is open to any Holmes Jr High student with a semester GPA of 3.4 or above. This club is intended to recognize the hard work and academic achievements of our students. Participation requires 5 hours of community service and good grades

REST Club

REST club was the inspiration of a group of 9th grade girls who lead very busy lives. The club's two main goals are to promote positive mental health and to help lower stress levels. The official latin motto is 'cesso, otior, laetus sum' , which translates to “I slack off, I take it easy, I'm happy.” The students have started a listserve and put out weekly newsletters. The club meets Friday at lunchtime in Mr. King’s room for relaxing conversation and activities

International Foreign Language Club

International/Foreign Language Club's purpose is to have time together to share and learn about world cultures. We also aim to involve students in the school community and promote citizenship and community service. Each year the students attend a cultural performance in the community and sponsor a booth at International Day.

MathCounts

Mathcounts is a nationally funded mathematics competition whose mission is to increase enthusiasm for and enhance achievement in middle school math across the country. It is open to any 7th or 8th grader. Each school can enter 1 team of 4 students and 4 individuals officially. Mathcounts meets informally for a couple of months during first lunch. Holmes is 2-time defending champion of the Sacramento region which goes as far north as Chico.
Sponsors are NCTM (national council of teachers of mathematics), NCPE (national council of professional engineers), and several major corporations. More information can be found on their websites. www.mathcounts.org. or www.mathcounts-ca.org.

Drama Club

The Drama Club promotes involvement in theater arts on campus. Students participate in school drama and musicals, oversee disbursement of club funds, decide upon appropriate fundraisers through theatrical performance, organize assemblies for performances and promote theater events on campus.

Robot Club

The Robot Club is a "hands-on" activity for students who are interested in robotics and computer programming. Students can build and use the school's robot kits during club meetings. We will have some guest speakers and guest robots.
