About The Teacher
A graduate of Marysville High School, Yuba Junior College, and UCD, Ms. Russell has taught at Holmes since 1972 in English, drama, developmental reading, humanities, and, most recently, the GATE program as a certified teacher of gifted and a member of the Javitz Study Group. Ms. Russell enjoys teaching, beginning birding, and her friends, family, studies, cats, and Peruvian Paso horses. She fosters cats for Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue (see http://www.purebredsplus.org/) and occasionally helps local bat organizations, including NorCal Bats, in their rescue and rehabilitation efforts.Sac Valley or Bat Conservation International

Mission For The Class
In addition to the California State Standards, the subjects for the gifted and accelerated classes are analytical writing, critical thinking, and philosophy. Homelinks are used to acquaint parents with subjects discussed in class and to allow students to hear other views!
