Patwin Activities and Projects
Students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades are eligible to learn a string instrument. Students in 5th and 6th can learn a band instrument. For information on the Elementary Band and Strings programs, visit the District's school music information page.
BRAVO Music Program
If you and your family play music, listen to music, or
just like music, you might want to volunteer to be the
BRAVO representative for your child’s classroom.
BRAVO is a music appreciation program funded by the Patwin PTA
for all classes K-6 that will begin in January — with your
help. It is a 30-45 minute program run by a parent docent
each month that introduces children to various pieces of
music (ranging from classical to jazz) as well as composers,
musical instruments, and the elements of music.

P.E.A.C.E. (Patwin's Environmental Awareness Club for Everyone) will be back in 2006-07. More news to follow.
Did you know Patwin has a Recycling Program? At lunch, all students sort their waste and compost their leftover fruits and vegetables, as part of the highly successful RISE (Recycling is Simply Elementary) program. Each school in Davis has a Recycling Coordinator who manages the lunch time program and works with the school garden coordinators, principals, students and teachers to integrate recycling into the schools.
Since the program began, the elementary schools in Davis have reduced the amount of waste going to the landfill by 50%. This saves the district money in waste management costs and helps the earth at the same time!
At Patwin, our Recycling Coordinator is the fabulous Joanie Siegler, who also heads up the wonderful P.E.A.C.E club after school on Wednesdays. Joannie oversees the recycling program and custodian Felix Kupa makes sure the recycling stations are setup each day for the students to use. Composting is coordinated with the school garden team.
