About the PTA

The Patwin PTA is an advocacy group for our children, comprised of concerned parents, teachers and administrators. Members of the PTA make every effort to support the educational needs of all Patwin kids by raising money to support activities designed to enhance your child's classroom education. PTA Fundraising includes the Fall Unfundraiser, Spring Walkathon, Fall and Spring Book Fairs, Box Tops collections, Scrips programs and Dinner Fundraisers.

You probably know that the Patwin PTA budget and volunteers support these valuable programs:

Did you know that Patwin PTA also raised money last year to support these essential programs?

  • Production of the PTA Student Directory, School Website & Listserv, and Weekly Newsletters
  • $2,300 to supplement classroom teacher's budgets (over and above DJUSD funding).
  • The Bravo Music Education in the classroom Program. Patwin is 1 of 2 schools in the DJUSD with this music program.
  • $5,000 from the PTA for new library acquisitions (over and above DJUSD funding).
  • Red Ribbon Anti Drug Awareness Education week and the Fingerprinting program for child safety.
  • $5,200 for the K-3 and 4-6 grade Patwin Science Program (over and above DJUSD).
  • Outdoor Education-Field Trip scholarships for the 4 th grade Malakoff Diggins and 6 th grade Walker Creek camps; and classroom and school Gardening Programs.
  • $750 to purchase playground equipment (over and above DJUSD)
  • Special Assemblies, including music, math, language and science presentations.
  • $10,000 for the purchase and installation of Patwin's NEW COMPUTER LAB (No funding from DJUSD was provided for this).
  • Fall Social, Family Education Nights and other Hospitality/community building activities

  • Patwin Day

With your participation the new PTA board would like to:

  • Focus our energy on increasing the effectiveness of our major Fall and Spring fundraisers in order to raise the remaining $20,000 needed to meet our obligation for the new computer lab to DJUSD by 2008;
  • Increase Patwin's sense of community with improved methods of communication and through inclusive activities.

We encourage and invite you to join in our efforts to advocate for our children. We want to find a way for everyone who would like to contribute to do so. When you join the PTA, you get a vote in an organization where you can voice your concerns, and work with others towards common goals. Please contact Nicole Starsinic or Jacki Balderama, PTA Co -Presidents, at patwinpta(at)gmail.com if you would like to learn about ways you can become involved.
