All about the Library:

During the school year, the Library staff hope that your child will visit the Library often both with his or her class and individually. Here are some tips on how the Library operates which we hope will help your child to get the most out of what we have to offer:

Most classroom teachers will be signing up for a weekly, regularly scheduled library time. Please check with your child's teacher to find out what day your child will be visiting the Library so you can help him or her remember to return all books on time.

The Library hours are:
  • Monday 8:15 – 3:15
  • Tuesday 8:30 – 3:30
  • Wednesday 8:30 – 1:45
  • Thursday 8:30 – 3:30
  • Friday 8:15 – 3:30
  • Open during morning recess everyday
  • The Library is Closed*
    • Primary morning recess on Wednesday
    • Lunch recess everyday
    • Afternoon recess everyday
    •  *Shortened hours and closures due to staffing cuts
The number of books that may be checked out and the length of the loan period is determined by the grade of the student. Here are the guidelines:
  • Kindergarten through Grade 1 - One book for a one week loan
  • Grade 2 through Grade 3 - Two books for a one week loan
  • Grade 4 through Grade 6 - Up to four books for a two week loan

Books may be renewed for the student's normal borrowing period if there are no reserves placed on the items. Students may place reserves on books that are checked out by filling out a "Reserve Form," available on the Library counter by the check out station.

An overdue book list is given to teachers to notify students each Wednesday. We appreciate your help in making sure your student returns all overdue items promptly.

We hope to see you and your student frequently during the coming year!

Sincerely,
Chris Weber-Johnson, Librarian & Ruth Beckon and Angie Nadler, Library Clerks
