WHAT IS THE WILLETT STUDENT COUNCIL?

Willett Student Council is run by teachers jim Reevesmand an Marla Cook.  Election of Officers takes place in October of each school year.  Students may run for the following positions:

President

Vice President

Secretary

Historian (2 students)

Treasurer

Spirit Leader (one per grade level in 4th, 5th and 6th grades)

RESPONSIBILITY to uphold the requirements of their elected office.

RESPECT for each other and the school.

LEARNING about how to solve real problems, making important decisions, and speaking out about honest concerns.

DEMOCRACY embodied in students running for office, voting, and meeting in an organized way.

We, the students of Willett, in order to create a better school, encourage fairness, responsibility, respect, and willingness to learn, hereby establish the Willett Student Council to promote the general welfare of all people in this schoolnow and forever.

Students may also become class representatives for Student Council.  These students are voted on in their 4th - 6th grade classrooms.  They attend the Student Council Meetings and report back to their classroom and a primary buddy class.

Student Council hosts Spirit Days and acts as liaison between students and staff.
