Planning for the Future of Our Schools

outreach graphicDJUSD is experiencing enrollment declines due to fewer births and the challenges many families face finding affordable housing in Davis. What happens next depends on whether new housing developments are approved: if they are, we will need to adjust school boundaries; if not, DJUSD will see about 1,000 fewer students over the next 10 years, which will mean school consolidations, closures and boundary changes.

In the next few weeks, we’ll be inviting students, staff, families and neighbors to a series of community meetings to share options for dealing with projected enrollment declines and to gather your feedback. The Board is expected to make a decision by Spring 2027, with changes that would start in the 2028–29 school year. Details about these community meetings will be coming soon.
