DJUSD Celebrates César Chávez Elementary School Multipurpose Room Opening
Posted on 09/26/2022
September 26, 2022, Davis, California -- Davis Joint Unified School District (DJUSD) celebrated the newest multipurpose room (MPR) construction at César Chávez Elementary School on Sept. 22 with an open house and our students cutting the ribbon. Built on the north side of campus, this MPR accommodates assembly seating for the entire school (up to 650 students and staff). With a design identical to the other multipurpose facilities at North Davis, Birch Lane and Willett Elementary, this beautiful facility also boasts a music room, warming kitchen, staff and student all-gender restrooms and a new stage to showcase performances and assemblies.

DJUSD Board of Education Trustees expressed their gratitude and appreciation for this new facility, which was built for our students and our entire community. Board Trustee, Joe DiNunzio, emphasized this sentiment by stating, in part, “...this building is here, not just for our students and staff but for all the community to use, so please give yourselves a round of applause for your support of education and the Davis community.”

Over the course of a year, this Measure M bond project was completed on time, and on budget thanks to the direction and supervision of our outstanding Capitol Operations team and their diligent collaboration with HMC Architects and Landmark Construction. We are grateful to the DJUSD Board of Education, students, staff, and our school community who were in attendance to celebrate with us, and we are especially thankful to our Davis voters, our District and our community for your generous support of this Bond project!

DJUSD will continue to provide frequent updates to our community. For more information on this, and our other bond projects, please visit djusd.net/bond.
