Davis Joint Unified School District celebrates the many awards and accomplishments of our students and staff. Often events and achievements draw the attention of media who visit our schools to photograph or film students and staff during various activities. In addition, the District uses photographs of students and/or their names in official District communications, including printed publications, websites, videos and official District or social social media. These photographs and/or videos may also include displays of student work.

Photos & Video for District Purposes
Unless notified in writing of an objection by a parent, legal guardian, or student of age 18, photographs and video footage of students and/or names may be used in official District-produced materials and communications, including printed publications, video productions, websites, and official school or District social media.

If parents do not want photographs or videos of their student(s) to be used in these materials, they should complete a  Display of Student Photos and Images form available for action each year through the Annual Registration process or available for download below. Please be aware that these requests are valid for the current school year and must be renewed at the start of the next school year. IMPORTANT NOTE: The requests will not prohibit usage in student-produced materials such as yearbooks and newspapers. If you do not want your child's image represented in these, contact you child's school office.

Photos and Video Captured by Third Parties
If photos or videos of students or staff are going to be created, maintained, or displayed by a third party where the District or school will not have direct control of the materials, then a written release form is required. Contact the Public Information Office at (530) 757-5300 ext. 149.

The above requirement does not apply to news media. If the opt-out for Student Photo or Image is on file for your student, District staff will request that news media not interview or film/photograph your student.  We encourage families to talk to their students about their preferences should they be approached by members of the news media.

Please contact your school office or the Public Information Office at [email protected] if you have any questions.
