DJUSD Coaching Requirements


Please check out below the pre-employment checklist for Davis Senior High School coaching.

Step 1 - Forms due to Personnel Services

Employment forms, available from the Personnel Services office, must be completed by all new employees.  Identification such as driver’s license AND social security card OR passport is required; other forms of ID are also acceptable.

 

Fingerprinting is mandatory for all coaches who are not currently employed by the school district. Please contact the Customer Service Representative to make an appointment for fingerprinting at the District Office, 526 B Street, Davis.  Fingerprinting hours are 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Phone is (530) 757-5300 ext. 101.  You may also pick up the form from Personnel Services and take it to the fingerprinting facility of your choice.

Step 2 - Proof of completion due to Athletic Department

State-mandated CIF coaching certification classes 

Current First Aid and CPR 

  • Certifications are mandatory.  If coaching a water sport, water safety certification is also required.  (Continuing coaches are required to keep certifications up-to-date.)  Courses are offered periodically by the school district and routinely by the American Red Cross.  It is the responsibility of the coach to obtain and maintain certification, and to provide Athletics Department with copies of the appropriate cards.

TB test

  •  New hires: within past 60 days is mandatory; Returning coaches: test valid for 4 years

Mandated Reporter Training

Step 3 - To be completed/signed once above coach requirements have been met

Variable Services Agreement (VSA): signed by the prospective coach, athletic director, school principal and Personnel Services administrator is required.  Upon approval by the Board of Education, a copy of the VSA is distributed to each party.

No one may start coaching/working with students until all requirements listed below have been satisfactorily completed.

Post-Employment Checklist

Head Coaches must schedule an “End of Season Meeting” with the Athletic Director.

Paychecks are distributed on or about the 15th of the final month following completion of services and are mailed to home address on file.
