The Willett Elementary School multipurpose room (MPR) is officially open! DJUSD had the honor of hosting the ribbon cutting and open house on Oct. 4 to celebrate the newest Measure M bond project. Students and guests walked through the new warming kitchen and music room and experienced this beautiful space that will accommodate assembly seating for the entire school (up to 650 students and staff).

This new MPR is a multifunctional space, not just serving the Willett community as a beautiful space for students to enjoy their lunch, but it also serves as a shelter during inclement weather, as a new performance theater for students to showcase their talents, a home for school-wide assemblies and a place for our student musicians to fine-tune their instruments and hone their musical creativity.

PTA Vice President, Erin Montgomery addressed the crowd and eloquently shared, “We look forward to the future and to the events that are going to nourish our community, shelter our community, entertain our community and enrich our community here. So, on behalf of the PTA, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for investing in the evolving needs of our community. We will treasure this building for years to come.”

Students were thrilled to cut the ribbon and share the spotlight with former principals, Heidi Perry and Mark Cary who have contributed so much to the Willett community. DJUSD Board of Education Trustee, Vigdis Asmundson, graciously acknowledged the Davis community, “Thank you to all of the taxpayers; we couldn’t do it without our community support, and everybody in the community has always done such a good job supporting our schools and doing what's best for our students.”
