Compassion Project

The Compassion Project is a parent workshop series on adolescent mental health and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). DBT is a cognitive behavioral therapy that focuses on four skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation.

For the 2022-23 school year, we offered a revamped 4-week version of this workshop series in partnership with Dr. Landes and the Auburn Davis Center for DBT, one in the Fall (in-person) and one in the Spring (virtual).

Check back in the Fall for new workshop dates for the 2023-2024 school year.

Workshop Format

Each session has a specific focus and is broken into two parts: lecture and skill learning/practice.

  • Lecture - an expert will present information on the topic of the night.
  • Practice - DBT skills will be introduced that correlate to that topic.

Program Goals

  1. Raise awareness of psychological disorders in children and adolescents and reduce stigma.
  2. Provide participants with the information necessary to understand and meet their children's psychological needs and provide proper support.
  3. Introduce participants to Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and give them the skills necessary to execute DBT outside of the workshop.
