Communications


The DJUSD Communications Office, under the direction of the Chief Strategy Office, is responsible for driving and managing District communications and public relations, while ensuring strategies are in alignment with the District’s Strategic Plan, mission and goals. Our office works in concert with schools, administrative divisions, community groups and individuals to provide information of interest to the community.

Primary functions include:

Centralized Emergency Communications
The Communications Office provides accurate, consistent and timely information disseminated to appropriate audiences in urgent situations. Learn more about our automated school notifications for families. For more information on school safety, please visit our Safety website.
District Communication Channels

The Communications Office is responsible for building an effective communications network within the District and community by disseminating information about school programs and services, District initiatives, innovations and accomplishments.

The Communications Office manages official channels of District communication including:

Strategic Communications Support
The Communications Office provides direction and consultation for District leaders on communication efforts and outreach, and provides communication systems training.
School Engagement and Promotion

In addition to building an effective communication network for the District, the Communications Office also supports communication for our schools. This includes providing support of the following:

  • School websites
  • School social media channels
  • Promotion of school events and opportunities
  • Media contact and support
  • Emergency messaging and other communication support

Media Relations
The Communications Office works as the primary District contact for local and national media, including newspapers, websites, radio and television reporters. We also take inquiries from other school districts looking for information, the general public and anyone else looking for information on the district and our schools.
