A Message from the DJUSD Governance Team
Posted on 08/30/2023
Our community has been the target of three acts of domestic terrorism (bomb threats) centered on the Yolo County Library within the last week, causing fear and anxiety amongst students, staff, parents and community members.

The safety of our students, staff and parents continues to be our top priority. We are thankful for the work of our law enforcement partners at the Davis Police Department, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office, and federal law enforcement agencies all working to determine who is behind these threats.
As a District, we state regularly that “We All Belong” and, more than just a mantra, this is our commitment to the safety, inclusion and affirmation of all our students and staff. Our Board, staff and leadership stand firmly against any act of hate or violence and strongly in support of our LGBTQIA+ students and staff who have been the targets of recent rhetoric. In addition, DJUSD, along with our partners at the City and UC Davis, have developed “Principles of One Community,” which affirms our shared responsibility to promote and sustain a united community that acknowledges and celebrates differences.
As our Mayor and DJUSD graduate, Will Arnold recently wrote, “We are better than hate, and in the fight against it, we will persevere.” As educators and leaders, we will continue to model for our students an unwavering commitment to compassion, understanding, and inclusion for all members of our community.
